Art Display Policy & Application

Art Display Policy & Application

Purpose

Franklin Township Library welcomes the public to display artwork on the library picture rails in the lobby and meeting room. The goal of these displays is to broaden the community’s interaction with art and support the community’s cultural and artistic activities.

Guidelines

Artists interested in displaying at the library may contact the Library Director to discuss their artwork and possible timeline for displays. The Director will review and approve all artwork prior to hanging and reserves the right to deny displays. Artwork must be appropriate for all ages and not explicitly commercial, political, or religious in nature.

If approved, the Director will confirm specific artwork and dates for the display. Artists must complete the Art Display Application & Waiver and return it before hanging any artwork. The form acknowledges review and acceptance of the Art Display Policy and releases the library from liability for damage or loss to artwork on display.

Artists will be responsible for hanging and removing their pieces on the agreed dates and during library operating hours. The artist may provide contact information for patrons (such as business cards) but cannot conduct any art sales in the library. Artwork must be hung on the existing picture rails. If artwork is not removed at the specified time, library staff may need to remove pieces to make space for new displays.

Approved 4/19/23
