Laptop In-House Usage Policy

Laptop In-House Usage Policy

Purpose

The library has four laptops available for adult patrons to use in the library. Laptops are available on a first come, first served basis and cannot be reserved ahead of time. Laptops are also used during library computer classes and may not be available during those times.

Guidelines

Adult patrons can check out a laptop at the circulation desk. The patron must provide a current government ID which will be held at the desk while the laptop is in use and sign the policy acknowledgement form.

Laptops may be borrowed for up to four (4) hours and returned to the circulation desk. Laptops must be returned at least thirty (30) minutes before closing, regardless of the time it was checked out.

Patrons are able to print from a laptop and use the print release station in the computer lab to pay for their copies. Patrons must comply with the library’s Internet Usage Policy. Library laptops are shared and patrons are responsible for deleting files/ downloads and signing out of any personal accounts before returning the laptop.

Patrons are responsible for the laptop while they use it. If the laptop malfunctions, the patron should immediately bring the device to a staff member for help. Do not try to repair or alter the laptop in any way. Patrons are responsible for damage to the laptop or theft if left unattended and will need to pay the full replacement cost for the item.

If a patron removes the laptop from the library, library privileges will be suspended until the laptop is returned. If the laptop is not returned, the patron will be responsible for the full replacement cost of the item and library privileges will remain suspended until payment is made or the laptop returned in working order.
